The Department of Plastic Surgery was established in 1996. Its activities include Plastic-Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, as well as a relatively new specialty – Craniofacial Surgery. The department performs modern surgical treatments based on the best-established global practices. Over the years, the department has also become a center for the treatment of congenital facial anomalies, with the support of world-renowned experts in the field and numerous international organizations.
Our policy is that part of the funds received from aesthetic surgery are allocated to the needs of the ALA Association (Association of Patients with Congenital Facial Anomalies and Their Parents).
Prof. Dr. Yuri Anastasov, PhD
Prof. Dr. Yuri Anastasov, PhD, is a plastic surgeon and head of the Department of Plastic Surgery since its establishment in 1996. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPREH), and later became a member of its Management Board. He began his medical education in Mexico, graduated in Sofia, and holds a French medical diploma. He completed specializations in plastic surgery in France (Lille, Paris, Nancy, Marseille), Spain (La Coruña, Bilbao), Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA. He is the head of the Plastic Surgery specialization at Plovdiv Medical University. Since 2000, he has been the representative for Bulgaria in the European network EUROCRAN and a member of the Francophone Society for Cleft Lip and Palate. He obtained the “Maître es Sciences Médicales” diploma for teaching plastic surgery in France in 2002. He has been an associate member of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery since 2002 and is also a member of the Bulgarian Society of Plastic Surgery and Burns. He is fluent in French, English, and Spanish.
