Among a population of 8 million people, every year in Bulgaria 110 children are born with cleft lip and palate and about 40 children are born with other facial abnormalities.  Because of the lack of information 30% of these children are abandoned by their parents. This situation causes a serious trauma to the parents and on the other side children are predestinated to live in Institutions.

Facial abnormalities are often associated with mental retardation, which is actually untrue. 
90% of the children born with facial abnormalities have normal intelligence and if treated properly have all the chances of a life realization!
